Four Mental Health Grants Total More Than $800,000
The John Rex Endowment announces four grants, totaling $812,280, to support efforts to create a more comprehensive and better integrated mental health system for Wake County children and youth.
The following nonprofit organizations will receive mental health grants:
- Governor’s Institute on Alcohol and Substance Abuse - $93,712 for facilitating Best Practice Adoption for Wake County Youth which will involve conducting a needs assessment and developing a plan for needed evidence-based behavioral health services as well as a training plan for behavioral health providers in the specialty mental health setting and in primary care practices.
- The Salvation Army of Wake County - $436,831 for Project CATCH (Community Action Targeting Children who are Homeless) to implement a system of care for homeless families with children and youth residing in any one of nine Wake County homeless service programs.
- Triangle Family Services - $15,000 for developing a Therapeutic Supervised Visitation Program to build on an existing visitation program to provide courts and families the alternative of therapeutic assessments, referrals and treatment in a family centered environment.
- WakeMed Health & Hospitals - $266,737 for a Pediatric Integrated Care Initiative to reduce the impact of cultural, language, or other barriers that contribute to disparities in mental health outcomes. The initiative will improve the capacity to conduct mental health screening and support the co-location of services within WakeMed.
