John Rex Endowment Joins Funders in Awarding $312K to Nonprofits Led By People of Color

Since 2014, funders from across the Triangle meet regularly to discuss the nonprofit sector and the desire to see agencies succeed and build their internal capacity.  In May, the Triangle Capacity-Building Network (TCBN), awarded $312,000 to 24 organizations for capacity building. Grants range from $10,000-$15,000 and were prioritized to those nonprofits led by and serving people of color. Gladys Hairston, John Rex Endowment’s Director of Research, Learning and Evaluation, said, “I’m proud the Endowment is a funding partner to TCBN.  Through this funding, nonprofits will be able to strengthen their infrastructure which is key in the ability to successfully meet their mission.  The focus on leaders of color brings attention to an overlooked historical responsibility of philanthropy.  We’re on the forefront of change.”  Read the press release.
