John Rex Endowment Awards $450k to Support Strategic Collaboration

John Rex Endowment released our Strategic Collaboration Impact Award Request for Proposals (RFP) earlier this year. The award’s funding purpose is tosupport the creation of authentic collaboration amongst community organizations led by Black, Indigenous, Latinx, and other People of Color (BILPOC), in order to affect change in issues that impact children's social emotional health, especially those that have been made most marginalized in Wake County.”

We are pleased to announce that our Board of Directors approved a total of $450,000 over three (3) years, to two organizations, Education Justice Alliance and The Resiliency Collaborative, for their “Partners for Healing Justice and Transformational Wellbeing” collaborative.

The Award’s Goal

The goal of the Strategic Collaborative Impact Award is to help collaboratives explore and build upon their strengths and to identify areas for growth.

The partnership between Education Justice Alliance and The Resiliency Collaborative creates a multi-racial collaborative “born out of Southeast Raleigh,” that works from a space of collective leadership—including students and parents as an integral part of the decision-making process.

Their “Partners for Healing Justice and Transformational Wellbeing” collaborative plans to –

  • support BILPOC adolescents in their overall wellbeing, prevention of harm to self and others, and the development of their leadership skills at home, at school and work, and in the broader community;
  • support BILPOC parents, guardians, and adult family members in advocating with the youth they are raising for a just and equitable existence and experience in the Wake County Public School System;
  • and to advance healing liberation through deep and healthy relationship cultivation that crosses the barriers of race, ethnicity, culture, lived experience, and age.

John Rex Endowment is committed to supporting the work of BILPOC-led grassroots organizations that have shared lived experiences relevant to the populations they serve.

This award is the Endowment’s only competitive RFP funding opportunity this year. Please stay tuned for news about our 2024 funding opportunities.
