John Rex Endowment Welcomes New Directors

John Rex Endowment welcomes three new members to our Board of Directors. 

Our new directors are Alma Barnett, retired Management Consultant for Public Knowledge; Loretta Harper-Arnold, Vice President of Corporate Social Responsibility for the Capitol Broadcasting Company, Inc.; and Brenda Williams-Brown, MBA, Chief Financial Officer for State Employees Association of North Carolina. 

Alma, Loretta, and Brenda bring their professional expertise and personal lived experiences to oudiverse board of leaders and decision-makersAs directors, they’ll work alongside staff to ensure the Endowment’s governance and strategies align witour mission to strengthen organizations that center racial equity and justice to improve the social emotional health of children living in Wake County.

Alma Barnett

“I joined the board to continue my passion for children and families in Wake County having access to the resources and support they need to thrive.” 

 

Loretta Harper-Arnold

“I’m excited to join JRE’s board because of the organization’s clear and vocal commitment to pursue equity-centered philanthropy. I look forward to working alongside JRE’s staff and volunteers to provide a collaborative and trust-based funding approach, which ultimately positively impacts the lives of more Wake County children and their families.” 

Brenda Williams-Brown, MBA

“I joined the board of JRE because of its commitment and courage in taking on the tough issues of systemic racism and injustice. I am excited to be a part of JRE’s unique strategy of funding organizations doing this work that’s critical to improving the health and wellbeing of children in our community.”
