Mission

masthead curve

In December 2021, we adopted our current mission to better reflect who we are, how we work, and the future we are working toward.

Our mission is to strengthen organizations that center racial equity and justice to improve the social-emotional health of children living in Wake County. This mission gives us the flexibility to focus on a wide range of work that impacts children.

How We Got Here

What we heard and learned through the planning process helped shape our 20-year vision.

By 2038, we envision a resilient, equity-centered ecosystem that is better equipped to support the social-emotional health of children in Wake County.

From Mission to Action

After our board approved the strategic roadmap, it became a guide for how we use our resources, build relationships, and advocate for change. It helps us keep our mission and vision at the center of our decisions.

What This Looks Like in Practice

We keep asking how we can use our resources, relationships, and influence to help create the conditions for Wake County children and families to flourish. In practice, we:

Provide flexible funding and other support to nonprofits and grassroots organizations.

Work with other funders to combine resources, coordinate efforts, and learn together.

Help strengthen connections among community leaders, policymakers, and others working toward systems change.
