Reflections from our Outgoing Board Members: Warren Ludwig
As we approach 2025, we’re completing our board series by celebrating our next outgoing board member, Warren Ludwig. Warren joined the JRE board in 2018. As a clinical psychologist and child welfare administrator, he brought a critical perspective and thought leadership to the JRE board. Please read some of his reflections below!
Why did you want to join the JRE board?
As a clinical psychologist and child welfare administrator with Wake County Human Services and a volunteer with non-profit organizations, I helped agencies apply for grants from JRE to implement innovative projects to improve the health of vulnerable children in Wake County. I was excited by the opportunity to help shape JRE’s work going forward.
Is there anything you’re most proud of or have found the most rewarding?
During the 7 years that I have been on the board, JRE has consistently asked itself and its partners questions like:
- How can JRE use its resources for the most significant positive impact?
- How can JRE be a better partner?
We certainly don’t have all the answers. Still, I am proud that JRE has identified racial equity as a central element to improving the health of Wake County’s children and of JRE’s ongoing efforts to be a better partner with grassroots organizations and communities.
What are your hopes for JRE’s future?
I hope JRE continues to be an organization that evaluates its strategies’ effectiveness and actively seeks feedback from its partners. As it tries new approaches, I hope JRE continues to learn from its successes and failures and that it increases its positive impact on the health of Wake County children.
